Technology: Return Mail
By Jennifer Barrett - Newsweek

It's an office classic. You fire off a catty e-mail about a co-worker—and realize a split second too late that you've sent it to the subject of your gossip.
But once you've hit "send," it's gone, and there's nothing you can do about it. Or is there?

Some programs like AOL let you recall a message sent to other AOL users who have not yet read it. Now, for $29.95 a year, BigString (bigstring.com) lets
you edit all your mail and even retrieve it after it's been opened. The service converts e-mails to HTML documents and stores them on a secure server.
Recipients receive a message with an embedded link that connects to that secret Web page. Since mail stays on the server, senders can access their messages
to edit or erase them. So, not only can you delete those nasty comments, you can replace them with compliments.
